The story is about a young boy who is part of a large family and is given the opportunity to earn money by pulling weeds along a fence line. The boy works hard and realizes that his older siblings have missed some small weeds, so he takes it upon himself to pull them as well. He ends up pulling more weeds than his siblings and earns more money. However, when his father asks him how many posts he completed, the boy lies and says he did 26 instead of just one. The boy feels guilty about his dishonesty but doesn’t confess until many years later when he is married with children. He confesses to his father and asks for forgiveness, which his father grants.
